Joseph Lestrange is the pseudonym of an American writer who has been visiting and learning Paris for many years. His subjects are varied or promiscuous, including historical observations, notes on the passing scene, strange encounters and adventures, and thoughts about the most mundane things, like clocks or grass. But whatever his subject, there is a common denominator—and that is his intention to enable people who know Paris well or wish they did to see the city from street level as a real city, not as a museum or monument. Joe is not a guide—he’ll never tell you where to eat mussels or which bus to take to the Opéra—but a companion, he hopes, with whom you’d like to walk the streets of Paris and discover things worth seeing, remembering, and writing about.
