You take yourself with you wherever you go

By Dan Heching

The president and soul of this website Karen Fawcett once said to me, “You take yourself with you, wherever you go.”  Since then I have seen the truth of that statement again and again, for both the good and the bad, from one traveler to another.  But you don’t only take yourself – on your journey of life, those who you love come along too, either physically (if you’re lucky), or wrapped up in your own person, your own mind, and your heart.  Victor Kramer, Karen’s born-traveler husband who shared with her a complicity and working relationship that was warm and inspiring to see, has been and will always be with his wife.

When I met Victor last year, I was immediately struck by his vitality, his drive, and his worldliness.  He was putting together a book that would hopefully compile all the necessary information a seasoned world traveler, such as himself, would need.  A daunting and impressive feat, I know, but one that Victor seemed more than ready to achieve.

I send my heartfelt wishes of support and love to Karen and her family in this time of need.
