Le Creuset

If you happen to be in Paris this March, BHV is having a big sale -- I don't know how and why -- since it's not that time of year. But its kitchen department sells Le Creuset.

Perhaps it'll be discounted. We can hope!!

Just wanted to add. I emailed the kind folks at E. Dehillerin and they replied very quickly and said they do carry Staub at their store! Woohoo! Thanks again for all your help.

Try for the 10% deduction. They can only say no and it never hurts to ask! It may be a thing of the past ..... but......

I know the BHV carries Staub. The Home store at Galleries does as well. Bon chance!

Okay, my question is not about Le Creuset but about E. Dehillerin. I've been holding out on purchasing a 7 quart Staub oval cocotte as I will be in Paris in November and hope to score one for cheaper than it is here in the US. Do you guys know if E. Dehillerin carries Staub or just Le Creuset? The one I'm eyeing is $239.00 before taxes and shipping ohmy.gif ! I don't mind lugging that heavy pot all the way back with me to the US if I can save some!

Do you know where else in Paris I can get this for a good price? I wish I had the time to go to the Staub outlet but alas, I'm only in Paris for a week and acting as guide for a first timer.

Thank you!
Some French products are much cheaper in France, even with the poor exchange rates. Every time I see Mephisto shoes in the US for $300 or more, I'm tempted to start an import business. I guess Mephisto wouldn't take that well, would they?
Hi Karen--Thanks for the discount trick. Will it really work? How brave a front do I have to put on?

Hi st.germain--While you're right that a lot of French [and European generally] products are priced lower for the U.S. market, and while I won't vouch for every item n the Le Creuset line, I priced two different items--a smaller gratin dish and a covered saucepan--a few weeks ago at Dehillerin and A. Simon and on the website of the US catalogue sales outlet Cook's Catalog. They were about half the price here in Paris, I think even including VAT.

Could definitely use the cooking lessons!!

Dehillerin

Always and for (and insist on) a 10% reduction at Dehillerin. Tell them you're taking cooking lessons (or a journalist).

I can't believe how expensive Le Creuset cookware has become. Is it really worth it? Plus, it's so heavy, you can use it as weights.

Hi Luxembourg,

Outside of les soldes, I think I've seen the consistently best prices at Dehillerin, 18 r Coquillière 75001. Occasionally I've seen better prices on a few items at A. Simon (48 r Montmartre 75002--go to their second store, the northernmost door), but the range of pieces at Dehillerin is wider. (The color selection is very limited at both places, though, compared to the big department stores. If you need a specific color, I'd look at BHV or Galeries Lafayette.)

If someone knows a place that can beat Dehillerin's or A. Simon's prices, please post. I'd love to know about it.

Hope this helps.

Marc

I understand that Le Creuset cookware is less expensive now in the United States than in France.

Any thoughts on where to find the best price for Le Creuset in Paris?
