There are six extremely reputable auction houses in Paris including Drouot-Richelieu, Sotheby's and Christie's. How many of you frequent them and do you actually buy things?

Big article in the Arts Section of todays NYTimes about sales this weekend coming to Southebys and Christies in NY with items like Picasso's Dora Maar With Cat and Repose. Both estimated to bring in about $20 million. This what we're all talking about? wink.gif

I have been told that with certain merchandise an individual without connections may have little success. I still go and it is fun to watch.

Hummmm -- that would imply there is unlimited money around -- that someone can always outbid you. I love the NOT important sales - -there are some occasional goodies that aren't hotly contested and actually go for decent prices!

Which other ones do you frequent and what do you take home with you?

Please share your bidding strategies and finds.

I have frequented the Drouot but I have never been successful in a bid. I have been told that with certain merchandise an individual without connections may have little success. I still go and it is fun to watch.
