The story should probably be classified! biggrin.gif I will say only that meeting this gentleman changed my life, and it seems I was able to return the favor because when his mother's apartment was burglarized last winter, I happened across one right away which ended up working out very well for them... so the dinner invitation was in part a big Thank You for my help. smile.gif

The flowers were very much appreciated and ended up coordinating perfectly with the kitchen, unbeknownst to me!

original arrangement of four different kinds of flowers and a vase for only €15.

Stacy: Sometimes I've been able to purchase an arrangement for even less money. If you find a creative "stylist," it's amazing what can be done by using green leaves mixed with some flowers.

STILL -- I do consider 15 Euros more than reasonable.

Having received an invitation to dinner at the home of a friend and in anticipation of meeting his mother for the first time, I went to the Monceau Fleurs on bd Raspail yesterday and collaborated with one of the young ladies working there to get a very nice, original arrangement of four different kinds of flowers and a vase for only €15.

They were also having a big rose sale, roses at rock-bottom prices, which I would certainly have taken advantage of for myself were I not in the midst of moving.

Lots of pretty flowers (plants, too!) there at very reasonable prices. Thanks to Karen for the recommendation, which I will happily second!
According to Pages Jaunes (if you don't already know this site, I highly recommend it, especially the search by proximity feature), they have locations in arrondissements 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12,13, 14, 16, 18, and 20. The one nearest you in distance is 1026 meters away at 11 bd Henri IV 75004, though perhaps another would be more convenient by transit ? not sure about that.
Here's the link rom the phone book!

Stores have popped up everywhere~

Thanks Karen! Actually I was thinking of them when I posted but couldn't remember the name... I'd seen them previously in some of the centres commerciaux around Paris but didn't realize they were spread throughout the city as well.

Stacy: This is the Monceau Fleurs I use:

Monceau Fleurs
84 bd Raspail

It's just a bus ride or a quick metro ride from where you live. Adjacent to it is another flower store that sells bundles of flowers which cost even less!

Take a good look to see if the flowers are fresh. There are some weeks I feel as if I'm living among tulips!

Is there a branch of this florist in or near the Marais? The price here varies so drastically and none are reasonable.
Thanks
Carlyn

Stacy:

Do I have the answer for you.

Monceau Fleurs

It seems like there are beautiful cut flowers everywhere in Paris, including some small shops in my neighborhood which are very nice but not exactly inexpensive. I'd like to have them around more often, but I'm on a tight budget! And then there are the times when you get invited to someone's home and would like to bring something...

Where in Paris can one get fresh flowers at the best prices?
