Please note that this information could be very important because a good friend of mine is considering to apply for the spring semester but cannot come without a good financial aid either. It is said that the deadline is December 1? Is December 1, 2006, the deadline for applying to spring 2007? I am very confused...

Rain:

This merits a phone call and probably more than one. And the sooner the better.
Call the admissions office Monday. Never during the weekends!
Hi again! smile.gif I can't reach the Office of Admissions and my counselor is out of town and I am a little concerned. Maybe someone could help me in this. I have explored the possibility of starting my studies in the Spring Semester instead of Fall, and defer my scholarship until then. I am not sure if this is possible, but it would indeed be a very good opportunity for my parents to try to organise their finance plan better. Nevertheless, it is very hard to tell only from the website and time is running out. Maybe somebody can tell me about entering AUP in the Spring Semester in the very same conditions (with Orientation, Financial Aid and all that). I understand that graduation is only in the Spring, so how can people finish their studies in the same time if they started at different times?

am sure there is nothing scary about Paris itself, it is just that it is a very big city and it is hard when you don't know a soul...I would like someone to describe in a few words the college life in Paris... I am so curious! If possible, of course

Rain: The wonderful thing about Paris is that it's made up of tiny quartiers (neighborhoods).
Explore the one surrounding the AUP -- it's GREAT.

Please remember that other students will be as eager to meet you as you are them! And - there are so many things to do. You'll have a BALL! (and do make an effort to learn a LOT).
I've studied French for quite a while but I forgot most of it...I promise to try to learn it, even though at the beginning I don't think I can have an entire conversation in French unsure.gif

omg I just read the previous reply I wrote...my English has been really baddd lately:(

anyway, thank you...I hope I will be able to meet some of you guys, it is kinda scary to go to Paris just like that...

Hi,

Nothing much to be afraid of in Paris, city is beautifull, people are quite nice. Actually it's not always true but being parisian I'll always be friendly to people who have chosen to live in Paris. The only way to find unfriendly parisian is to be a certain kind of american toursit. Like the ones who go strait to you and say "Hey you ! Where is Notre Dame?". Without a "sil vous plaît" (even with a funny accent) or just a "excuse me, I don't speak french", my answer will be "Je ne parle pas anglais" ("I don't speak english"), and if I feel like it, I might indicate the exact oposite direction ! So just learn how to say "please" in french and you'll get almost anything you like cool.gif .
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

btw, don't worry about your english, french people don't speak english very well and won't notice if you make mistakes (of course for you're american university it might be different).

Ciao.

Rain:

Welcome to Bonjour Paris. You'll love the AUP. It's located in one of Paris's best neighborhoods and there're students from throughout the world -- giving it a VERY international taste and feel.

Try not to be dissuaded from getting involved in French culture. It's easy to do.

Regarding housing, AUP has a bulletin board where students post vacancies plus apartments to share.

Re additional apartments, access: http://bonjourparis.franglo.com/classifieds/index.php

There are apartments listed there as well as jobs. You can also post what you're looking for in both areas. NEVER hurts!

Please ask away regfarding any and all questions!
(to be young and studying in Paris). You're fulfilling so many people's dreams (including mine).

Hi! My name is Gia, I'm 19 and I'm also going to AUP in late August laugh.gif I also don't know anyone in Paris so anyone who would like to offer me a hand would be of great help...I've got admitted to other Universities in the US, Spain, but I chose Paris simply because I really want to live there...I don't know a lot about Paris and AUP either yet, so any information is most welcomed...I would like to meet your daughter cause I'm also frightened of the unknown but I've already been part of an exchange program (1 year) in the US so i know how it is like to live on your own...just give me an answer...I'm from Romania btw....I f someone could help me with finding a roomate and a cheap room to live, maybe some sort of quick job I would be most grateful
Ciao!
American University of Paris is a major educational institution, with students from several dozen countries, and has a growing reputation for quality education. This is a quality, accredited university, located on Ave Bosquet in the 7th.
Thanks Ursula.... Yep, they (AUP) exist... In fact, they called my daughter while she was still in the states, to tell her they would love to have her at the University. Of course, UVA informed her of the same... the following week! unsure.gif
Chuck,
You might find the following site useful and informative. wink.gif

PitterPat. I am not necerrarily up to date on this issue, however I never heard about an "American University" in Paris. However I did hear about about classes that were given in English. when I lived in Paris in the 50-s they were part of a curiculum on European Culture. Many GI-s took them, but If I am correct, many of them used it as an excuse to stay in Paris. I do not know if this program is still around, or maybe this was expanded into what the call the American Unicersity?
