The best rental prices are: http://www.autoeurope.com/index.cfm?aff=bonjourparis

AGAIN .. if you find any rental car for less, AE will match its price. We have that guarantee.

Well Marc ... Bonjour Paris could have arranged for that experience. And if you rent through us .. AE guarantees to meet any price! honost@!!!
Well, yes and no. It was AutoEurope, but I didn't make the reservation through Bonjour Paris, and, in fact, I made it through a discount on-line agent. So I don't think AutoEurope felt very much obligation toward the reservation.

No harm, no foul. Using a stick shift through the Place de la Concorde and the Étoile, twice--once at rush hour--was an experience I wouldn't have wanted to pass up.

Marc: Please tell me you didn't rent via our AutoEurope affiliate....

If you did, I am going to have to SCREAM ... AND WILL!
When I rented a car this last summer to go to Normandy, I certainly wasn't offered an RFID box.

(Mind you, they didn't give me the automatic transmission car I'd ordered, either.)

Marc

Drivers can go through the toll booths with an American credit card. That's not a problem.

As for RFID boxes, I don't think that's being done with French rental companies ..... but I will check! However, I have my doubts. Does anyone know??
Any of you drivers can update me on the toll booths on the Peage. Last time I was there, I had to use the cash line as the credit card pay booth won't accept US cards (no embedded chip - the pouce?). Is this still the case?

Also, have the French advanced to the RFID boxes in the cars so you don't have to stop. Many rental cars in the US now have them installed in areas that have tollways or bridges, and allow you to go through the toll plaza in special lines without stopping. You get hit later for the tolls when you check in the rental car.
