Nina, Paul shops are in many places around Paris, so you should check the location portion of that website to find one close to your hotel. The only one I have been to was in the 16th in an arcade. I use the Paris yellow pages, although there are other mapping web sites equally good, to print out the location. The bread freshness really depends on whether they bake several times a day, or just once early in the morning. If you buy during the post-work shopping rush at, say 6-7 PM, the bread could be pretty stale by then, so that is something to watch for.

You might want to try Poilane bread located at 8 r Cherche Midi 75006 Paris and 49 bd Grenelle 75015 Paris. They are fairly well known and you can often find there bread at Monoprix as well.
I'm drooling! All the breads on that website look so yummy. I hope I can get to his shop and try the whole wheat bread. Thanks so much for the information.

Nina,

Earlier today, I made some comments on whole wheat bread in the other threat, where you expressed your disappointment for not having received an answer (it's probably the 'French Women Don't Get Fat' topic). You will have to scroll down a couple of posts though. I wrote it this morning (Europe time).

Paul's web page with all location is right here:

The best dark bread I recently had in Paris, what at 'Pasco' and it came from Poujauran, Rue Jean Nicot, 7th arr.
The Paul bakery chain in Paris would be a good place to start. I lost the web address, but if you can find it, it should have something on the types of bread they have.
I'm wondering if any of the boulangeries and restaurants serve whole wheat or whole grain breads. It almost feels sacreligious to ask!

While I have absolutely NO intention of sticking to my current no-white-flour/no-white-sugar regime in Paris, (as far as I'm concerned, all health concerns are off during our week there!) I was just wondering if there would be any whole grain options available. I actually LIKE the taste of those breads....but am also salivating at the thought of a fresh white baguette, too. smile.gif
