No question it's unusual but it DOES happen. Some French architects and craftsmen take extraordinary pride in their work, and the Internet does facilitate matters. I renovated our Paris apartment in quasi-absentia and found that I probably got a better product than if I had been standing overseeing the work. The architect arrived daily .....
