Boy is this the best trip I have ever taken between the US and France.

When was the last time you were on a Paris bound flight where there were extra seats? I keep trying to change my return date and EVERY day is sold out.

PLUS -- the prices are sky-high! Are any of you able to find deep discounted fares to Paris this summer?

Yes - there are some to London ... but ....

Mara, you were right, As you went via Zurich, you cdid cross the Atlantic on your way to Tokyo. If you would have gone via L.A. or SanFrancisco you would have
had a Transpacific flight.

I think you misread my post - I went to Tokyo in '04 and Zurich last month......

Never! mad.gif

And it seems as though domestic flights are almost always full. That didn't used to be the case, but post 9/11 there seems to be a lot of consolidation of planes and flights.

In October 2001, ORD-CDG, I had a row of three seats in the middle section all to myself. It's the one and only time I've ever been able to sleep on a plane!

Wow ... that's a shocker! and ever so true. There are times when I feel as if I need to go to bed for two days after making the flight in order to recuperate.

Mike, I never run into this problem. Most of them try to get comfortable within their own territory. (I know, it is not very nice, but it works, and I do get a fair amount of sleep.). Besides, at that time is a few Grrrrunts is all you get out of me.

Gone
I allways ask for a "C" seat, if the seat next to me is empty, I can stretch out by putting my feet in the leg room in front of the empty seat, and have no problem sleaping.

Years ago!!!
To and fro Tokyo in January of '04. Going from JFK to Zurich last month all three seats were occupied but coming back the seat in the middle was empty so I could stretch out a little. The old days of a row to oneself seems to be over.....

Oops, Tokyo isn't transatlantic, of course blink.gif
Transatlantic Flights.

When was the last one you took that wasn't full and you could actually stretch out and sleep? We're talking coach class!
