Ron - For that price - what a bargain. If it could save you just a few minutes. Wow.
I just discovered that there is an app for CDG for my iPhone ($1.99). The preview looks
interesting--terminal maps, photos, RER and airline information, etc.

How are people liking the "renovated" terminal one at CDG?? Each time I've gone through security leaving Paris, it's taken forever. Have others experienced the same thing? K
300 Euros is robbery for a flight that takes less than an hour. But --- who knows in these days of airlines setting fares that appear to change from one day to another and then there are ALL of the booking sites!
Hi Julie,

You listen to Karen, now. Kelkoo (http://voyages.kelkoo.fr/c-172201-billet-davion.html) is finding round-trips Nantes-CDG, first leg on Oct 4 with that 7 a.m. flight you want, for 128 euros. You could just bag the return trip, or try to talk Air France into some kind of credit. (Good luck with that.)

Alternatively, a 6:40 a.m. one-way flight Rennes-CDG on Oct 4 is going for 96 euros.

Neither option is exactly cheap, but better than 300 euros.

Good luck.

Marc
Julie -- have you already purchased your ticket from the US to France and back? I find it hard to believe that there's such a differential in price between the early flight and the LATER ones - especially considering it's a Sunday. Also, a round trip ticket may very possibly cost less than a one way ticket. You might want to call A.F.

Another thought - check on Expedia.fr You may luck out and find a more reasonable fare. Please let us know. This is definitely a "go figure."
We are planning a Fall trip to southern Brittany. We are flying from Paris to Rennes and would like to fly back to CDG on Suncay morning October 4, 2009. I have tried all the search engines and Air France's website. Air France has a flight at 7:05am is going for over 300E/person. The flights later in the day are 60E. Go figure?! We have to leave Nantes by 9am to make our flight from CDG.
My question is: Do you think the price will come down as we get closer to the date? I don't want to make hotel reservations until I know how we are getting back to Paris. We could fly back from Rennes, but would prefer to leave from Nantes.
Thanks for your help.

To everyone who has recently departed Terminal at CDG, has getting though security been a nightmare? It certainly was yesterday. Tell all. It took forever and I arrived at the airport nearly three hours before departure time.
thanks guys! you've all been very helpful!
We had the same situation last month; our friend arrived at Terminal 1 several hours before we got in at Terminal 2. She took the shuttle over and waited for us in the café until our flight landed; then she met us just outside the baggage-claim area, where there's direct access into the main hall. It was pretty simple, and I don't think you'll have any trouble.
The shuttle between the terminals in called a navette. You can see them on the airport layout maps. If your shuttle into Paris leaves from T2 it would make sense for the person in T1 to take the navette to T2. The signage is pretty good at CDG; I was there yesterday coming home to NYC. There are a lot of little diagrams in each terminal area so I wouldn't get too bent out of shape. Of course, it is easier if you don't have that much luggage as you wouldn't be able to take a luggage cart on the navette as far as I know. I have a small rolling suitcase so I get around pretty well.

Thanks for replying so quick - I am getting really stressed about this. We were planning on taking a shuttle to our hotel in Paris. I have visited that website and the layout was confusing. I'm not sure where the shuttle bus from Term 1 will drop me off at Term 2 - is it outside or inside the airport(if you know)? The shuttle service (to our hotel) I'm considering will pick us up at Terminal 2A/2C @ Gate 8 or Terminal 2F @ Gate 15 at the Departure level so I guess I need to figure out where my friend is landing. (www.parishuttle.com) I am probably making this more confusing that it is!!!

Heather, How are you guys getting into the city? I think that would help clarify things. If you are taking the RER, you can meet there at the station. If you are taking a shuttle or a taxi, then one of you will have to meet the other. CDG has shuttle buses between the different terminals. You can check out the layout of the airport at www.adp.fr.
Hope
that helps,
My friend and I are flying into 2 diff terminals (Term 1 and 2) this Sat am from the US. We didn't realize the terminals are not connected until just recently. We've never been to CDG. Does anyone have suggestions on how to meet up? Thanks!

Don't know where you land on Japan Air but on American Air at CDG after Customs etc and to the area where chauffeurs hold those name signs (the first area where one can meet) it seems all views to the inside are blocked..... . At least to my memory.

It must be different where I land, Al--when you take the escalator down to the baggae claim area, the walls are floor to ceiling glass so people waiting outside can see you, and the doors are open so you can just about walk out with no one stopping you. Which is what my brother and I did 3 years ago. Some guy came strolling out, looked us over, and didn't even speak to us.

Oh, you're going to have a great time! But don't worry--the customs area has glass walls, so you'll easily be able to see her collecting her luggage.

Bonjour,

My sister is arriving on Thursday morning from the US on US air and I am meeting her at the airport and then we are heading to the Gare Montparnasse.

I met a friend at the airport before and had no problem finding her, but I think my sister is worried that we will miss each other somehoe. I said I'd meet her at the baggage claim. Does anyone know if this is the best spot? Or should I meet her at customs?

Merci beaucoup!

Oh, you're going to have a great time! But don't worry--the customs area has glass walls, so you'll easily be able to see her collecting her luggage. Although, I guess it depends what time she arrives. I always arrive around 4PM and there's hardly ANYONE ever there. And the customs guys can be so lazy. They just wander out and eye you and that's it. Except if you're Asian--they always seem to give the Asians on my flight (I fly JAL) a harder time than the European-looking people. unsure.gif
Phyllis,
Your sis will have to claim the baggage before going through the customs. You won't have access to that area. Try to find out where exactly the plane arrives and meet her after the customs.

If you know what terminal, you can always fix a different spot like a particular shop as a back up. It seems there is an American Express counter, a Brioche Dorée, a MacDo, etc. after the customs (public zone) at CDG1.

http://www.adp.fr/webadp/a_cont01.nsf/NFhome@ReadForm.html

Click 'horaire des vols' and the arrival locations will be listed.
Seems like Terminal 1. But do double check again.
There is most likely also a so-called 'meeting point'.
Maybe, someone else has a concrete idea as a back up. I am not that familiar with CDG, since I usually fly in/out Orly, when taking the plane from Basel.

Bonne chance and have a great time with your sis.
