Picasso Museum
(Musée Picasso)
The Picasso Museum is closed for renovation until spring 2013.
Le Cubisme (cubism) anyone? The Picasso Museum houses more than 3,000 drawings, paintings, portraits, sculptures and more are displayed with enough generous room that visitors aren't elbow to elbow.
The little Picasso sculpture garden is amusing and Picasso's private collection with works by Degas, Cézanne, Modigliani and more are also here. For those searching for a cool little gift to take back home, the boutique offers more than just Picasso-inspired gifts (although find those here, too)... and at fairly good prices, as far as museum gift shops go.

Glory Years: Picasso
By Arnie GreenbergWhen I paint, my object is to show what I find, not what I'm looking for." The painter had created the first major Cubist painting. While Les Demoiselles was a monumental achievement, very few were ready to accept it. One said, "What a loss for French Art." Another said, "It's as though you wanted us to eat rope and drink gasoline." Another shook his head: "One day they will find Picasso hanged behind that picture."
