Cimetière Père-Lachaise

Paris has some great cimetières from which to choose to visit, but if you only have the time to visit one you should consider Cimetière Père-Lachaise, with its beautiful graves (that actually seem to be pieces of art in their own right) with well-known as well as lesser known permanent residents. Whether you like classical or rock music, you will find your idol—Chopin, Maria Callas, and Jim Morrison are here; or for the more literary person, you can see where Oscar Wilde and Molière are resting. As the entrance to the cimetière is free, it won't cut a hole into your travel budget, either. On your way in, be sure to pick up a free map from the office—you’ll need it!
